International Yoga Day 2025: PM Modi to Lead Historic Coastal Yoga Event in Visakhapatnam

“One Earth, One Health”

On June 21, 2025, India will celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga, with the grandest national-level event taking place in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the main event from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM, along a 26-kilometer stretch from RK Beach to Bhogapuram.

Event Details

This large-scale gathering is expected to see over 300,000 participants performing yoga simultaneously along the coast. Across Andhra Pradesh, nearly 100,000 venues will host yoga sessions, with an estimated 500,000 participants statewide.

Record-Breaking Aspirations

The Andhra Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has announced its intent to break Guinness World Records, including an attempt at the largest Surya Namaskar session, with 25,000 tribal students performing the sequence continuously for 108 minutes.

Preparations

To prepare for the event, a month-long campaign titled "Yogandhra-2025" was launched, encouraging mass registrations and community-level practice sessions. Additionally, 1,200 students from Andhra University have been trained as yoga instructors to guide participants during the event.

Logistics

Extensive logistical arrangements are in place, including water stations, medical aid units, LED display screens, mobile toilets, and crowd management systems. Backup venues such as university campuses have been readied in case of rain or unexpected weather conditions.

Conclusion

Visakhapatnam is poised to host one of India’s largest and most significant yoga celebrations to date. As the nation comes together in breath and balance, this event marks a proud cultural and spiritual moment—led from the front by the Prime Minister himself.
